Showcase of mini demonstrations by our local Ikebana Masters
from Ikenobo, Ohara, Sangetsu, Sogetsu and Saga Goryu Schools.

October 16th, 2022:

Workshop by Sogetsu School, LA - Join Kaz Kitajima Sensei for a succulent planting workshop. We will design (8) eight types of succulents and plant them in pots. It will be a fun workshop that can be displayed on the patio or indoors.

April 16th, 2023:

attend a workshop by Ikenobo San Gabriel Valley California Chapter and facilitated by Tina Fu-Ting Yang Sensei. She will demonstrate how to make a freestyle Ikenobo Ikebana arrangement.

May 21st, 2023:

Attend a workshop facilitated by the Sogetsu School of San Fernando Valley Branch: Cindy Utsinger. In this workshop, Cindy-sensei will demonstrate how to make a Sogetsu-style Ikebana using both fresh and unconventional materials .

Upcoming Events

Ikebana International Los Angeles, Chapter #4 meets monthly from September through June. Our meetings, workshops, and demonstrations highlight local, national, and international teachers from multiple Ikebana schools. Annually we hold a Floral Exhibition showcasing Ikebana, Japanese flower arrangements from our membership.

 

We typically meet on the third Sunday of the month. Some membership benefits are listed below. We hope you join us.

Annual Katen

 

Our chapter hosts an Annual Spring Ikebana Exhibition, a Katen each year. Members gather to show their floral artworks over a weekend. Guests experience arrangements representing different schools / ikebana-styles in one room. 

​

February 19th, 2023:

Attend a workshop by Ohara School, Los Angeles and facilitated by Mayumi Onami Sensei.  The Workshop is Titled: “Landscape Moribana Realistic Method.” This is one of Ohara schools signature arrangements which is freestyle.

March 18-19th, 2023:

Katen - Annual Ikebana Exhibition @ USC-Pacific Asia Museum

Saturday demonstrations - Ikenobo SGV and Sogetsu LA Schools

Sunday demonstration - Master Erisson Thompson assisted by Valeria and Leonard Brinkers from Sangetsu school.

November 20th, 2022:

This workshop will be led by Saga Goryu School, Los Angeles: Alfredo Valenzuela. Alfredo will showcase the Saga Goryu school style of simple arrangements using Emperor Saga’s favorite flower; the chrysanthemum.

New Years’ Luncheon Demonstration by Sogetsu School, SFV
Arrangements from all 5 Ikebana schools

June 18th, 2023:

Attend the last chapter meeting for the 2022 - 2023 season, aka Sayonara party. Watch a demonstration by Ikenobo School, Los Angeles Branch members Fukuyo Tanaka and Jessica Tang.
