Luncheon recap + photos | Attend the Ohara Workshop by Mayumi Onami Sensei | Reserve you Katen space + order lunch
Dear Los Angeles Chapter #4 Members,
It's 2023, under the lunar calendar, the year of Rabbit, or Usagi in Japanese. With the recent events in Monterey Park it's with a heavy heart we ring in this year. I hope everyone is embracing their loved ones more frequently and let's cherish each day we have with each other.
In this month's newsletter, enjoy a recap of the New Year's Luncheon and 65th Anniversary Celebration. Additionally get details on the February Ohara Workshop and our Annual Katen Spring Floral Exhibition.
Sincerely,
Fukuyo Tanaka
President
New Year's Luncheon and 65th Anniversary Celebration
On Sunday, January 8, 2023, members of Ikebana International Los Angeles, Chapter #4 gathered at Courtyard by Marriott - Monterey Park for their New Year's Luncheon and 65th Anniversary Celebration. This was a wonderful opportunity for members to get together and deepen their friendship through flowers. See photos from the event and read this recap here >>
February Ohara Workshop
On Sunday, February 19th at 11:00 am, attend a workshop by Ohara School, Los Angeles facilitated by Mayumi Onami Sensei. The Workshop is Titled: “Landscape Moribana Realistic Method.”
Mayumi Onami Sensei will demonstrate how to make a landscape arrangement in a realistic method. This is one of Ohara schools signature arrangements which is freestyle and taught for students in an advanced level. A landscape arrangement creates a fictitious natural view in a limited space of container. The purpose is to express scenic beauty realistically. We will then be able to have an understanding of the natural growth environment and seasonal aspect of the material. Read a profile about Mayumi here >>
