August 2021

Dear Members:

We hope you all are having a good time in this summer. Please protect yourselves and your families from the corona virus, wear a mask, and continue to wash your hands frequently.

In August, I went on a trip to Oregon, wearing a mask and constantly washing my hands. Many flowers such as sweet pea, orlaya, evening primrose and more bloom naturally there, and I envy the people of Oregon. Above are some photos of my family's adventures.

Meeting and Demonstration

A face-to-face workshop for our Chapter will be held on September 19, 2021 at the Los Angeles Arboretum. This meeting will showcase demonstrations by our Chapter members from Ikenobo, Sangetsu and Sogetsu schools. Please read this post for further information about the meeting and demonstrators.

Invite from Panama Chapter #257

Jose Salcedo sent us this flyer from the Panama City I.I. Chapter (Panama). The Chapter is known worldwide for its Zoom programs; last month they had over 160 attendees from around the world (US, Canada, Europe, South America, Japan, India, etc.). We hope many of you will be able to attend this Zoom program on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Ikebana International North and Central American Region (NCAR)

For those of you who are unfamiliar with NCAR (Ikebana International North and Central American Region), it is the largest region of seven regions within Ikebana International, reaching from Canada to the Panama Canal. As the Regional Advocate Committee, they seek to strengthen relationships with the 68 NCAR chapters - through engagement, communication and knowledge sharing - to enhance chapter and school vitality. They provide resources and share proven practices to spread the art of ikebana.

The NCAR Sensei Network was formed through the work of the Regional Advocates and a hard working committee of 30 NCAR Chapter members, representing 5 schools of Ikebana from 19 NCAR chapters. If you wish to be added to the new NCAR Sensei directory, please fill out an Sensei Profile form and NCAR will see that you are on the NCAR Sensei Directory. This list is of all sensei in NCAR chapters conducting both in person lessons. To be added to any of NCAR’s lists, contact Stephanie English at narikebana@gmail.com.

Please see the above NCAR flyer and take a look at NCAR’s website which contains informative materials and information: https://Ikebanancar.org
